8.3 Start-Up Benchmarks
Alpha, Beta, and Launch Phases
CBL Sweat Project – No financial start-up cost, but your “Sweat Equity is required!
Alpha Phase - 60 Day Benchmarks
- Finalize the CBL Operator Deposit Requirement and Agreements.
- Go through CBL business orientation meeting/training and/or Operational Manual.
- Contract league facility(ies).
- Meet with local business resource organizations (SCORE, Chamber of Comm., etc.).
- Meet with local radio and cable companies.
- Start street flyer promotions in local basketball hotspots.
- Contact local High School and Club Team basketball coaches.
- Conduct four-player orientation meetings.
- Conduct sponsorship presentation meetings.
- Sign-up (Free online registration) 300 players within your city.
- All City Charity Tournament Sponsors paid-in-full ($5,000.00 min. sponsorship).
Beta Phase – 61 to 90 Day Benchmarks
- 2nd-round street flyer promotions in local basketball hotspots.
- Announce City Charity Tournament (50 teams max).
- Conduct eight (two per week) player orientation meetings.
- Conduct sponsorship presentation meetings.
- Sign-up 50 teams for your City Charity Tournament.
- Conduct successful City Charity Tournament (within 60 day benchmark period)
Launch Phase – 91 to 120 Day Benchmarks
- Full CBL staff in place and approved by CBL corporate office.
- Announce league, team, or tournament start-up date and location.
- Sell-out league, team, or tournamnet player registration.
- Start official league, team, or tournament.
- All Sponsorship pledges for league, team, or tournament paid-in-full ($10K for Leauges, Tournaments, and $20K E-League Teams).
Benchmark Goal Totals:
- 7 Slam Dunk, Rebounder, and Assist Sponsors
- 3 Street flyer promotions
- 24 Player orientation meetings
- 60 Sponsorship presentation meetings
- 30 CBL Media Guide and Playbook Sponsors
- 144 CBL player registration (adult league only)
The CBL Operator deposit is refunded after or during the Launch phase period. Once all sponsors have paid their fees that was pledged, the CBL League, Team, or Tournament Operator will be refunded their $795.00 deposit in full. If the Operator does not successfully complete the Alpha, Beta, and Launch phases their deposit refund is voided.
E-League General Manager Benchmarks
Month 1 Benchmarks
- Sign and return internship/employee agreement documents to CBL corporate office.
- Go through CBL business orientation meeting/training.
- Locate team gym facility for practice and games.
- Secure local radio and cable TV company sponsorship.
- Start player recruitment.
- Distribute street flyers in local basketball hotspots.
- Conduct two player orientation meetings.
- Conduct two sponsorship presentation meetings.
- Registration 10 to 30 players within your city.
- Submit weekly and monthly financial report.
Months 2 & 4 Benchmarks
- Recruit and hire other staff members.
- Submit marketing and promotions plans for your team.
- 2nd-round street flyer promotions in local basketball hotspots.
- Conduct 1st team community outreach event.
- Conduct two player orientation meetings.
- Conduct two sponsorship presentation meetings.
- Register 40 to 60 players within your city.
- Secure two Slam Dunk sponsors.
- Submit weekly and monthly financial report.
Months 5 & 6 Benchmarks
- Have final team rosters in place.
- Conduct 2nd & 3rd team community outreach event.
- Conduct team inter-squad and exhibition games.
- Secure two Slam Dunk sponsors.
- Turn in season ticket sales report (quota is 200 season tickets sold by sixth month).
- Submit weekly and monthly financial report.
Final Benchmark Totals:
- 2 Street flyer promotions
- 4 Sponsorship presentation meetings
- 7 Slam Dunk, Rebounder, and Assist Sponsors (quota $10,000)
- 28 Players for your final team rosters
- 200 Season tickets sold
Performance bonus is based on the completion of the 25 monthly task and final benchmark items.
CBL Affiliate League
Existing amateur or recreational basketball leagues can become an affiliate league of the CBL, and their championship teams will be eligible for the CBL National Tournaments.
An affiliate “league” will receive:
- 4x8 CBL affiliate league banner
- Link to your league’s Website
- Link to company Website
- Full-page advertisement in CBL game-day programs
- Full-page advertisement in CBL Playbooks
- Entry into the CBL National Tournament for affiliate league Champions (youth and adult)
- 20% rebate on all CBL apparel
- Place in the top 3 of the CBL National Tournament and receive:
- Free set of team uniforms for CBL Affiliate League (custom logo design on uniforms)
- Free set of team CBL short sleeve shooting t-shirts
- CBL Affiliate League team fee paid
- CBL National Tournament Champions receive championship rings!
- CBL Affiliate League receives $5,000 for basketball program equipment and promotions
CBL Affiliate League teams must have matching team uniforms to play in the CBL National Tournament. A CBL Affiliate League is considered an unprotected territory, and a CBL franchise “can” be sold in those markets.
